Welcome to the Zentrum Jüdische Studien!

Founded in 2012, the Zentrum Jüdische Studien Berlin-Brandenburg (ZJS – Center for Jewish Studies) is a cooperative project of the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (HU), the Freie Universität Berlin (FU), the Technische Universität Berlin (TU), the Universität Potsdam (UP), the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) (Viadrina), the Abraham Geiger College (AGK), and the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies (MMZ).

The objective of the center is to cross-link institutions and establishments in Berlin and Brandenburg, to promote junior research, and to drive forward the internationalization of the academic region Berlin-Brandenburg in the field of Jewish Studies.

Currently more than 60 young researchers from various disciplines are associated to the ZJS and accompanied as well as supported intensely by the scholars employed at the ZJS. With the recent incorporation of the Viadrina (May 2014), all the universities of the region teaching and conducting research in Jewish Studies are now combined within the ZJS.
