Call for Applications: Brownstone Teaching Fellow at Dartmouth College

The Jewish Studies Program at Dartmouth College is inviting applications for a one-term summer position as Brownstone Teaching Fellow. The summer term runs from June 22 to August 22, 2018, but Fellows will be asked to arrive by June 21 and remain until August 31. Responsibilities include serving as a teaching assistant for Jewish Studies 11, History and Culture of the Jews: Modern Period, which is taught to around 300 Dartmouth sophomores. Duties involve leading discussions sections, meeting privately with students, grading exams, and possibly delivering a lecture to the class. In addition, each Fellow (we hope to have four) will be asked to give an informal seminar on his or her research. Compensation will include US $5,000, an office, library card, access to Dartmouth facilities, including the gym, boating house, arts facilities, and so forth. Past Fellows have indicated that they had plenty of time for their own research and writing, enjoyed the intellectual atmosphere and collegiality at Dartmouth, and learned how the American undergraduate teaching system operates.

Interested applicants should write to: Susannah.Heschel@Dartmouth.edu
